“Ideas for 'Raising Violet’ started to appear in January 2022, when a series of illustrations began to emerge with the threads of a story that finally wove themsleves into being during ‘Folktale Week’ later that November.
Having felt called to create something new that might help in some way to ease the suffering that so many of us are, or have been going through in these times of global change, it is my hope that sharing Violet’s story brings a sense of upliftment, comfort and inspiration that goes some way towards achieving this.
Someone said to me during Folktale Week, 'I can see myself in Violet'. My feeling is, there might be a bit of Violet in us all”. ~ Heather
Following 'Folktale Week', heeding the call from onlooking fans via social media to turn the story into a book, Heather got about the job of writing an introduction and an afterword, along with some other fun additions and began mapping out the the book with a designer to create a beautiful, 40+ page, hardbacked offering for you to keep.

Your wonderful books have arrived in Vancouver!
Firstly let me say the book is aesthetically pleasing.
Secondly, though it presents itself as a children's book, I find it will have an appeal to all ages as it talks to the "inner child" in all of us.
Finally, the foreword and afterward offered great insight into issues that plague many, if not all, of us on varying levels.
I personally have dealt with bouts of anxiety and depression since my teen years and the words offer comfort, encouragement, clarity and validation to anyone who reads this book.
As mentioned in a previous email, I will be sending a copy to my daughter and I am sure she will enjoy reading this as much as reading it to my 2 grandchildren.
Sadly they moved away about a year ago however, perhaps this book might provide an unexpected bond we can share over the miles.

Your book arrived today. It is absolutely beautiful and I got really choked reading the afterword. Maybe I read it at a vulnerable time having just got back from Heathrow Airport dropping my brother off for his return journey to Peru. I'm really going to miss him and I had recent discussions about doing what nurtures your soul. I have been neglecting those things that I have a passion for, music and spiritual stuff like energy work, consciousness exploration, healing etc. Your afterword has already inspired me to find myself again and I'm so glad that you found it within yourself to get to where you should be. I’ve read your book and I’m very impressed by it. What I like very much is love yourself! That’s the best way to overcome depressic feelings. When I was young I always thought that people were lauging about me and I was very ashamed about myself. I also found that in your words, if I’m not wrong. Victory was the first art you made for your book. Your afterword makes many things in your lifestory and your Victory much more clear, and describes that you must have gone through a very long sad period in your life. Heather, I will thank you very much for your support in Raising Violet, especially now I've lost my wife after a marriage of 55 years. It´s a year ago now, and I discovered that being alone is very different from being lonely.
